Chicken Soup
Chicken soup really is good for you when you are sick
Warm fluids (soups and teas) are hydrating, which is important for healing. These warm fluids also raise the temperature of your airways to loosen secretions, so you can move these secretions up and out (coughing, blowing your nose).
Chicken contains carnosine, which has antioxidant properties. This boosts immunity by activating both the B and T cells in your immune system to help you fight infection
Add produce such as celery, carrots, onions, turnips, sweet potato, and parsnips to your soups to make them more nutritious.
Consider making and freezing this soup, so it's ready to heat and eat the next time you are sick.
1. Cook chicken in a soup pot, remove and shred once cooled
2. Saute all veggies in this same soup pot
3. Add back the shredded chicken, rinsed chickpeas, cooked pasta, and 8 cups chicken broth
4. Season with oregano, black pepper, and a little salt
5. Top with shaved parmesan cheese and a big squeeze of fresh lemon
