Chicken Soup
Chicken soup really is good for you when you are sick.
Warm fluids (soups and teas) are hydrating. Hydration is important for healing These warm fluids raise the temperature of your airways to loosen secretions, so you can move these secretions out. (coughing, blowing your nose)
Chicken contains carnosine, which has antioxidant properties. This boosts your immune system by activating both the B and T cells in your immune system to help you fight infection.
Add produce such as garlic, celery, carrots, onions, turnips, sweet potato, and parsnips to your soups for more nutrients.
Consider making and freezing soup, so it's ready to heat and eat the next time you are sick.
Cook chicken in a soup pot, remove and shred once cooled
Saute all veggies in this same soup pot
Then add the shredded chicken, rinsed chickpeas, cooked pasta, and 8 cups chicken broth
Season with oregano and pepper and a little salt
Top with shaved parmesan cheese and a big squeeze of fresh lemon
